1. When and where is the 2024 FoT Summit happening?

The 2024 FoT Summit will be held on August 13-15, 2024 at the US DOT headquarters in Washington DC. Please see this link for additional information.

2. Was there an Information Webinar on the 2024 FoT Summit?

Yes, an Information Webinar about the 2024 FoT Summit was held on March 11, 2024. The slides used at the webinar can be found here, and a recording of the webinar can be seen here.

3. How can I participate?

Attendance at the 2024 FoT Summit is by invitation only. You can express your interest in attending the FoT Summit by submitting the corresponding form here. If you subsequently receive an invitation, you can attend the Summit.

4. Are walk-in registrations possible?

No. The US DOT Headquarters are a secure US Government facility and your name must be on a pre-registered list for you to enter the building. The only exception is for US DOT officials and employees who work at the US DOT. When they enter the US DOT Headquarters in DC, please check with the personnel at the registration desk before and/or after building security.

5. Are there any registration fees for the 2024 FoT Summit?

There are no registration fees for the 2024 FoT Summit. However, please note that participation at the 2024 FoT Summit is by invitation only.

6. How can my organization/company become a sponsor for the FoT Summit Networking Reception?

7. Where can we stay during the FoT Summit?

Please check this page for additional information. There is a multitude of choices in and around DC. The US DOT Headquarters are located within easy walking distance of the US Navy Yard-Ballpark metro station on DC Metro. A DC Metro map and short walking directions to the US DOT Headquarters from a subway station can be seen here.

8. What is the dress code, if any?

The dress code for the FoT Summit is “business casual”. Please note that the weather in DC during the month of August is typically hot and humid.

9. What are the security protocols used by the US DOT to enter their headquarters in Washington D.C.?

Please see below. We urge you to arrive early to ensure that all attendees are seated before distinguished invitees start speaking.

10. Can you list “what to know before you go” to the FoT Summit?

General

  • FoT Summit Attire: Business Casual
  • Box lunches and break beverages (coffee and water) will be provided.  
  • A map will be provided at the venue illustrating break and lunchroom locations.  
  • Food and drink can be brought through security, but this will slow the screening process.
  • Location of Parking lots are illustrated in the DOT Visitor Guide shown above.
  • Location/maps of all daily poster sessions and demonstrations on Wednesday afternoon will be provided.
  • Extra waiver forms will be available at the venue.
  • All attendees, both non-DOT and USDOT participants, must register in advance!
  • Please mute all cell phones.

    USDOT Building Security Protocol

    • Please see building map in DOT Visitor Guide shown above and note that its New Jersey Street entrance (west entrance to building) is the entrance that must be used by visitors/attendees of the Summit.  The New Jersey entrance is also the nearest the Navy Yard Metro stop.
    • Please arrive well in advance of the first session of the conference at the New Jersey Street entrance – security requires non-DOT participants to collect their visitor/attendee badge at the registration desk in the lobby and then walk through magnetometers/security.
    • All non-DOT attendees must be ‘escorted’ throughout the facility, to and from the west atrium and to demonstration tables in the concourse. ‘Line of sight USDOT escorts’ will be stationed throughout the west atrium.
    • Please refrain from bringing backpacks and purses, if possible.  The largest dimension of items that can be sent through security magnetometers is 18 inches.  Items larger than this must be scheduled to arrive through the loading dock.  Please see the DOT Visitor Guide above for more information.
    • USDOT Escorts will be available to aid in the event of a building evacuation alarm, please see facilities map for location of defibrillators.
